Peripheral Arterial Disease Screening
Cardiology Associates of Virginia is pleased to offer screening for:
What is PAD, and Why Should I Care?
PAD is a serious disease which affects about 8 million Americans. It occurs most often in the legs, but can affect other arteries that carry blood outside the heart. People with PAD are at much higher risk for having a heart attack or stroke. PAD develops over many years and patients in the early stages of the disease usually don't have any symptoms. When symptoms develop in the legs, patients often dismiss the pains as a sign of getting older. As a result, patients don't seek treatment for this "silent killer."
